Ajeno al sentimiento de culpa y el pudor, cuando el cuerpo le pedía renovar sus  energías, se arrimaba sin titubeos a los transeúntes para presionar una contribución voluntaria.

Jamás perteneció a ningún partido o movimiento político, pero sus afectos estaban definidos desde su adolescencia, cuando acompañó a una amiga  de piernas endemoniadamente largas a varias reuniones subrepticias  que marcaron para siempre su forma de ver el mundo desde las bases. Frecuentó una y otra vez varios grupos clandestinos de los cuales salía o era expulsado por divergencias conceptuales: marxistas, leninistas, maoístas, estalinistas, trotskistas… hasta optar por posturas de un anarquismo ideal bakuniano, que negaran toda forma o sistema de gobierno, en aras de una libertad individual y deliberada más acorde con  su esencia solitaria. Abandonó tres carreras universitarias con las cuales a la postre no se sintió a gusto. Nunca trabajó en nada, no lo precisaba. Desadaptado  e inconforme con las imposiciones de los cambios sociales, ahora todo el tiempo lo invertía en su labor proselitista. Convencido de su trabajo emancipador entre la clase obrera, cumplía un horario más o menos riguroso de diez de la mañana a nueve de la noche, siempre en el mismo callejón. Su público era voluble y trashumante. Como un pelícano lanzado en picada  contra el cardumen, clavaba su mirada profunda en el primer rostro incauto que tropezara para dar inicio a su gesta delirante. En cierta ocasión eligió  a una muchacha de ojos llorosos, que sin duda había visto salir una y otra vez de la oficina de correos y la instó para que dejara de escribirle cartas a quien no la amaba.

―Usted qué va a saber, dijo ella sin detenerse.

―Si ese infeliz te quisiera estaría aquí,  luchando a brazo partido, hombro con hombro a tu lado, aunque fuera comiendo mierda los dos. Juntos serían imbatibles; la revolución del corazón es la más urgente ―, gritó él, sin dejar de mirarla.

―Qué va a saber un loco como usted―, insistió ella mientras se mezclaba entre la gente con un  leve temblor en las piernas.
