Nadie estaba preparado para semejante ‘shock cultural’, es cierto, pero es evidente que las profundas condiciones de desigualdad marcan una brecha muy grande entre los niños que tienen las herramientas para seguir aprendiendo en la crisis… y aquellos que por las serias limitaciones económicas de sus hogares deben crecer con toda clase de angustias y carencias.

Por estos días de pandemia, las empresas que prestan servicios de Internet han planteado ciertos descuentos en sus tarifas para permitir un mayor acceso a la población con menos ingresos, dejando ver dos cosas: 1) que sí era posible ofrecer servicios más económicos; y 2) que se debe empezar a plantear el wifi como un servicio esencial de la humanidad, en función de disminuir la inequidad social. Sin embargo, no es el acceso en sí lo que garantiza que se dé un buen uso a las herramientas tecnológicas, sino la capacitación asertiva en el manejo de las mismas.

Ahora bien, hablemos de prioridades: ¿cuál madre atareada hasta el cansancio en alimentar a sus hijos, cuidar a sus ancianos, mantener su vivienda y a la vez ser productiva en lo laboral, puede dedicar cuatro horas diarias a desempeñar el trabajo de profesora, algo para lo cual no está “capacitada”? Sumémosle el estrés y la ansiedad por el temor permanente al contagio, más tener que lidiar con el machismo o el drama de la violencia intrafamiliar, acentuado en las “cárceles” en las que viven muchas mujeres.

Hoy asistimos a la improvisación de la educación pública desde los hogares. No sabemos si como sociedad lo estamos haciendo bien, de paso estamos ‘reeducándonos’ profesores y padres, seguramente por ahí se empieza.

Ahora bien, así como existe el Plan de Alimentación Escolar (PAE) lo que hoy necesitan los niños de Colombia es un Plan de Educación Integral (PEI) que nos capacite a todos -padres, hijos y docentes– frente a la cuarentena. En síntesis, una política educativa tan buena que hasta la ministra de Educación pueda tener a sus hijos estudiando en un colegio público y ayudándolos a educar desde su casa, y estos dispongan de cobertura de wifi gratuita, y no tenga que alimentarlos con la comida para gatos que dan en el PAE.
