Avianca se declara en bancarrota
Avianca se acogió al recurso de reorganización económica contemplado en el capítulo 11 de la Ley de Bancarrota de Estados Unidos.
Se calcula que los ingresos de la compañía se han reducido en un 80 por ciento desde que en el mes de marzo tuvo que suspender operaciones por cuenta de la cuarentena debido a la propagación mundial del covid-19.
Otras grandes compañías estadounidenses como Lehman Brothers, General Motors, Enron, Chrysler o Texaco, entre otras, también se acogieron al capítulo 11 para lograr un alivio a sus deudas.
Por ahora Avianca solo ha anunciado la liquidación de sus operaciones en Perú, donde tiene cerca de mil trabajadores.
La aerolínea cumplió 100 años en 2019 y en la actualidad cuenta con una flota de 158 aviones, que cumplen 76 destinos en 27 países de América y Europa.
