Iván Duque: ¿pastor religioso o jefe de Estado?

Las creencias que en materia religiosa tengan los presidentes y sus ministros no deberían ventilarse públicamente, como si fuera un asunto de Estado. Cuando uno o varios de estos funcionarios fijan una postura, elevan una oración en un sentido u en otro, o piden la protección a determinada deidad o figura religiosa, erosionan el carácter laico del Estado colombiano.


Eso de pedirle a la Virgen de Chiquinquirá protección para los colombianos, convirtió a Duque en un pastor, lo cual entra en conflicto con su rol como Jefe y máxima autoridad administrativa y política de un Estado presuntamente laico. Lo que queda por aclarar entonces es si Duque es el presidente de todos los colombianos, o un pastor de la Iglesia Católica.

«Duque pretende sintonizarse con los que a pesar de compartir sus creencias, desaprueban su desastroso Gobierno».

En su momento,  Duque Márquez afirmó: “estamos próximos a una Semana Santa y yo sé que somos un país con libertad religiosa, pero cada uno en su espacio de fe, sea eclesiástico o puramente espiritual, debe hacer esa reflexión de lo que somos como sociedad y a dónde vamos. Esta mañana me desperté pidiéndole a esa patrona de Colombia – la Virgen de Chiquinquirá-  que nos consagre como sociedad, que consagre a nuestras familias, a nuestros hijos, hermanos, abuelos, a nosotros, quienes tenemos responsabilidades, que nos dé salud para poder guiar los destinos de la nación, y créame, que esa patrona de Colombia nunca nos ha abandonado«.


Lo dicho por el Jefe del Estado puede resultar para muchos un positivo acto de habla, en la medida en que reconoce la existencia de un Dios y de las figuras que tramitan ante esa deidad, las peticiones y deseos de los millones de creyentes en Colombia. Parecería no haber nada de malo en lo expresado por Iván Duque, pero lo cierto es que se trata de una declaración irrespetuosa con las demás creencias religiosas, así como con los no creyentes, agnósticos y ateos.


Lo dicho por Duque tiene además la clara intención de sintonizarse con esos sectores sociales que a pesar de compartir sus creencias, desaprueban el desastroso manejo de las crisis generada por la pandemia y el consecuente confinamiento.


Apelar a la Fe como una herramienta política y como instrumento de marketing político solo sirve para confirmar, primero, que Duque y varios de sus ministros no han entendido que el nuestro es un Estado laico y está obligados a comportarse en consecuencia; o sea, los conmina a guardarse sus creencias y preferencias religiosas. Segundo, se ratifica el desespero de su equipo de comunicaciones por mejorarle la imagen a un gobernante que en los dos años que lleva de administración jamás se sintonizó con el país. Y es así porque gobierna para  sectores privilegiados, los mismos que coadyuvan a mantener las condiciones de pobreza, exclusión y marginalidad en las que sobreviven millones de colombianos (creyentes, además).


Después de la petición que le hiciere Duque a la Virgen de Chiquinquirá, la ministra del Interior convocó a un “día de oración y reflexión por Colombia… que sirva como ayuda espiritual ante la actual emergencia sanitaria«.


En lugar de hacer un llamado ético a los agentes económicos y políticos comprometidos con el modelo agro extractivista (ganaderos, agroindustriales y minería a gran escala), cuyas prácticas devienen de tiempo atrás en insostenibles, el Gobierno de Duque opta por tocar y mover las fibras más sensibles que se desprenden de la Fe. Y todos sabemos que la Fe, en tanto virtud, poco espacio deja para discutir.


El error -grave por demás- en que incurre Duque está en depositar las responsabilidades políticas en las vírgenes de Chiquinquirá y Fátima, librándose así él de las que debe asumir al frente del Estado. Aunque bueno, ya sabemos quién es el que manda.


Siempre será un error y un riesgo hacer Política (con P mayúscula de Colombia) de la mano de Dios. Y en lugar de insistir en buscar explicaciones en la Fe, deberían empezar por señalarle a la opinión pública que las pandemias hacen parte de un proceso co-evolutivo, del cual hacemos parte como seres humanos. Y que es un error insistir en tomar distancia de la Naturaleza. Por todo lo anterior, me pregunto: ¿Duque es el jefe del Estado o un pastor religioso?
